The Department of Health Sciences - Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, organized an event on the occasion of World Radiology Day. The event brought together experts, specialists and students, and aimed to highlight the importance of radiology and its applications, and the role of the university in supporting and sponsoring it.
The event began with a speech by the Assistant President for Student Affairs, Community Centers and Branches, Dr. Munir Al-Abbadi, who emphasized the importance of the role of radiology in modern medicine, praising the role of the University of Science and Technology in supporting this field, and in updating the program to keep pace with the rapid developments in this vital specialty.
Then, the Supervisor of the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program, Dr. Wafaa Al-Ayashi, delivered a speech in which she spoke about the pivotal role of radiology in diagnosis and treatment. She reviewed the development of the program since its launch, and pointed out that the university always seeks to develop its curricula to keep pace with developments in this field, which enhances the quality of education and prepares graduates to excel in their professional lives.
In his speech, Radiology Consultant Prof. Dr. Ahmed Awad Bahmil reviewed the development of the use of radiology in Aden Governorate from the beginning until the present stage, pointing to the rapid technological development witnessed by this field, including modern devices that contribute to more accurate and safer diagnosis for patients.
The event also included a recorded speech by Radiology Consultant Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Mahfouz, Professor of Radiology at Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt, in which he gave valuable advice to students about the importance of science and continuous learning, urging them to take advantage of the available educational opportunities and develop their skills to become future leaders in this specialty.
A report on atomic scanning was also presented, which showed the medical applications of this type of examination, and how it contributes to diagnosing and treating some complex diseases.
At the end of the event, a number of prominent contributors to the field of radiology and the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program were honored in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the development of this field.
The honoring ceremony was followed by the opening of the radiology exhibition, which included a number of specialized pavilions, including: X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasound, and mammography; which gave attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and devices used in medical examination.
The event reflected the University of Science and Technology’s commitment to providing the best educational and training practices, and its keenness to keep pace with scientific developments; to support its students in the field of radiology and medical imaging technology.
