It began with the establishment of the National College of Science and Technology, as the first private technical college in Yemen, under license No. 2220, dated December 29, 1992 AD. This was followed by the official opening of the University of Science and Technology, which began its mission following the ministerial notice No. (2/94), dated January 12, 1994 AD, and which has been issued by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Since its inception, the university has absorbed a large number of specializations in various medical, engineering, technical, administrative, humanitarian and social fields, and has focused on providing qualitative specializations that are not available in local universities and are needed by the community. In the interest of the university to provide distinguished education for all, it has established a special branch for female students, which includes all programs of the university’s faculties. Branches of the university have also been opened in the Yemeni governorates. To provide opportunities for advanced education, and offices in some of the sister countries, and the university provided a number of international programs in coordination with Arab and foreign universities….
Our Strategy
In developing change strategies for the university, UST has used the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach. Starting from defining the four strategic objectives according to the four dimensions of BSC, several sub-objectives have been branched out from the four strategic objectives. Each sub-objective is achieved by implementing projects to directly achieve the objective. Indicators have been developed to measure the extent to which sub-objectives have been achieved. The follow-up and evaluation mechanism is implemented regularly and continuously according to the BSC tools previously prepared for this purpose. Through a system of monthly and quarterly reports from all departments and branches of the university, we have developed standards to measure the implementation and success of projects on time. Any deficiencies are corrected through corrective action plans.

Quality & Accreditation
The concept of education quality is one of the most critical concepts of the University of Science and Technology, since its early establishment in 1999; as it represented the first unit to ensure the quality of education in Yemen. This unit is now entitled “Quality Assurance and Accreditation Management”. The main objective for the formation of this unit was to enhance the quality of education and to develop service delivery procedures in several aspects, including all components of the educational system at the university, such as teaching, curricula, staff, students, infrastructure, equipment, regulations, educational processes and administration. The Quality Assurance and Accreditation Management Unit includes 4 sub units within the main office and 9 other sub units within the faculties of the University’s female Branches. In addition, the Quality Orientation Council was established in 2004 in an effort to implement the most substantial educational quality systems and standards.
