The university branch in Taiz was established as the first branch of the university for the academic year 96/97.

It is the first branch of a private university in the governorate of Taiz, where its opening represented a qualitative leap in its time, as it represented a qualitative addition to higher education in the governorate through new scientific departments such as the computer specialization, as it is the first department to teach computer science in the governorate of Taiz and then the establishment of the first specialization for the diploma in pharmacy, then the marketing specializations. Accounting .

Since its establishment until today, the branch of the University of Science and Technology in Taiz has been keen on excellence, which made the students’ parents love it through the good reputation it gained among students, whether through the efficiency of its employees or the means and techniques of education that distinguish it from competing universities.

Program Overview

The Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery Program was established in 1994, and it is considered one of the first programs at the University of Science and Technology, where the first class graduated in 1999, and the first three batches graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry at the university are considered the first at the level of public and private universities in Yemen.

The courses included in the program are prepared and applied according to the quality system adopted by the university in accordance with international quality systems. The main objective of the program is to graduate a cadre capable of providing therapeutic and research services in the community, with the knowledge and skills it has acquired, as well as theoretical and practical experiences.

Course Plan

The program plan includes 196 credit hours spread over 10 semesters, between university requirements, college requirements, compulsory specialization requirements, and optional ones. The duration of study in this program is five years, after which the student obtains a bachelor’s degree in oral and dental medicine and surgery as an accredited certificate at the local, regional and international levels.

The Clinics Department includes 52 modern units, in addition to the devices and tools necessary to provide high-quality treatment and preventive services to patients, under the supervision of a qualified staff to ensure a safe and smooth educational and supervisory process.

The focused sterilization unit in the dental department is equipped so that the sterilization process is carried out according to international sterilization specifications, in order to facilitate this process, make it safer, and reduce the time it takes. The center sterilization unit applies the highest standards of safety and quality in sterilization by using the latest technologies. There is a central sterilization unit in addition to secondary sterilization units.

  • Radiology unit:

The radiology unit provides various types of diagnostic radiography services to patients of the dental department and outpatient clinics, which include three units of conventional oral x-rays, and two-dimensional digital panoramic rays.

  • phantom lab Phantom Lab  

The Department of Dentistry at the University of Science and Technology includes a group of laboratories, including the Phantom Lab, in which second and third stage students are trained on practical lessons for dental treatment, which includes the fillings curriculum as well as the crowns and bridges curriculum, which are prosthetic treatments for missing teeth or A tooth that loses some of its parts by damage. The department continues its development plan by creating the appropriate environment for the educational process and equipping laboratories and clinics with the latest equipment.

  • Fixed and Mobile Prosthodontics Lab:

This laboratory is equipped with 64 units where students are trained in pre-clinical courses such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, anatomy and dental shaping. For example, students are trained on the technical steps for preparing prosthodontics and orthodontics, which are later used in clinics.

The dental lab units are also distinguished by containing the latest products and technologies available for the production of dental prostheses (full and partial dentures, crowns and dental bridges) while maintaining a constant level of high quality. The highly skilled and experienced technicians in the lab produce complete and partial sets that have a natural appearance and are meticulously manufactured. The lab also makes any modifications or repairs required by the patient of these devices at any time to ensure patient satisfaction and comfort.

Admission and registration requirements

  1. . The college accepts high school holders in the Republic of Yemen, or its equivalent, at the rate determined annually by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  2. Submit all the required documents, certified with the application for admission to the university, to the Admission and Registration Department.
  3. Admission is made according to the capacity specified by the university and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  4. The student undertakes to abide by the regulations, instructions and regulations of the university in force during the study.
  5. Students enrolled in some college programs are subject to differentiation tests, which are a criterion for college admission, and this is done through placement determination, a personal interview, as well as a GPA competition and an admission test.
