Advantages of studying at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences

Students in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences enjoy a wide range of advantages, the most important of which is the availability of infrastructure, specialized professional staff, modern equipment and devices, in addition to the hospital of the University of Science and Technology, which is equipped with specialized professional cadres for training. The College of Medicine and Health Sciences affiliated to the University of Science and Technology is distinguished as the first medical college in Yemen; This is likely to be due to a number of factors, the most important of which are: the stimulating educational environment equipped with the latest laboratories, the qualified and experienced teaching staff, and a number of other factors that led to the continuity of the development horizon and the adoption of modern patterns for the study of medicine and health sciences that keep pace with modern education methods.

Program Overview

The Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery Program was established in 1994, and is considered one of the first programs at the University of Science and Technology, as the first batch graduated in 1999. The first three batches graduating from dentistry at the university are considered the first at the level of public and private universities in Yemen.

The courses included in the program are prepared and implemented according to the quality system adopted by the university in accordance with international quality systems.

The program primarily aims to graduate a cadre capable of providing therapeutic and research services in the community, with the knowledge, various skills, and theoretical and applied experiences it has acquired.

Course Plan

The program plan includes 196 credit hours spread over 10 semesters, between university requirements, college requirements, compulsory specialization requirements, and optional ones. The duration of study in this program is five years, after which the student obtains a bachelor’s degree in oral and dental medicine and surgery as an accredited certificate at the local, regional and international levels.

  2. Submit all the required documents, certified with the application for admission to the university, to the Admission and Registration Department.
  3. Admission is made according to the capacity specified by the university and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  4. The student undertakes to abide by the regulations, instructions and regulations of the university in force during the study.
  5. Students enrolled in some college programs are subject to differentiation tests, which are a criterion for college admission, and this is done through placement determination, a personal interview, as well as a GPA competition and an admission test.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences Department was established in the Hadhramaut branch of the university in the academic year 2013/2014 as an urgent need to contribute to providing medical institutions with qualified diagnostic staff, and due to the large number of high school and higher diploma graduates and their desire to obtain a bachelor's degree in the specialty of medical laboratories, in addition to saving the trouble of traveling outside the governorate for students wishing to study. The specialty of medical laboratory sciences is one of the specializations in the department of medical sciences in the branch. It is an academic program in terms of description that follows the Department of Health Sciences in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the main center in Sana'a. It grants a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory sciences and the duration of study is four years after high school.

Libraries were established with the founding of the university in 1994, and since then they have sought to be proactive in owning everything new in the service of the educational and academic field and the continuous endeavor to provide sources and information containers of all kinds and forms. University libraries include more than 90,000 sources of information in various fields of science and knowledge These sources vary between books, periodicals and CDs. The libraries also have a computerized program that serves all artworks from entering book data, research and lending. Admission and registration requirements (Bachelor):

1- A high school diploma or its equivalent is accepted at the university according to the percentages specified by the Ministry of Higher Education.

2- The student undertakes to abide by the university's regulations, instructions and regulations.

Quality Assurance Unit

The role of the Quality Assurance Unit in the branch is summarized as follows:

  • Communicate with the Quality Assurance Department at the head office to find out everything that is updated regarding the evaluation process, including standards, indicators, and procedures, and circulate it to all scientific departments in the branch.
