Students of the Department of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, carried out a field visit to the Ramooz Foundation for the Deaf and Mute.
The activity was carried out by fourth and fifth year students in the Dentistry Department. This activity is part of the Pediatric Dentistry course supervised by Dr. Fatima Al-Kabab, and the Community Medicine course supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suha Abdel Qader.
The activity aimed to teach students a new language of dialogue with people with special needs, and to learn how to deal with them when they come to dental clinics. The activity also aimed to increase awareness among the deaf and mute about caring for oral and dental health.
During the visit, the students presented an awareness program about oral and dental health in the language of the deaf and mute, after the students had learned the language of the deaf and mute during a previous visit to the Ramooz Foundation.
It is noteworthy that a group of the foundation’s children will soon be received for treatment in the university’s dental clinics, as part of community service, and for the students to apply what they have learned during the previous period.
