The University of Science and Technology - Headquarters, Aden, participated in the Global Money Week - Yemen 2024 event, as one of the main sponsors of this event, which was organized by the Central Bank of Yemen under the sponsorship of more than 30 banks and universities, and hosted by the University of Science and Technology building and Aden Mall Garden during the period from March 18-24, 2024 AD.
The Global Money Week campaign aimed to raise early awareness among youth and children about the importance of acquiring personal money management skills and knowledge, and providing them with the skills of saving, investing and smart spending; thus enabling them to make sound and non-random financial decisions.
The University of Science and Technology participated in the Global Money Week through a team of young people that was formed and supervised. The university’s participation was represented by providing an intensive three-day training course for trainers in financial education targeting representatives of the banks participating in this event. The number of beneficiaries of the course was 17 people representing 17 banks. The university also participated in the event through the Global Money Week campaign exhibition that was held in Aden Mall and lasted for three days. It was attended by senior guests, most notably the Governor of Aden Governorate, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, and a large number of important figures, official leaders, and businessmen. The university’s participation in the exhibition was represented by a special corner through which it presented financial awareness content for young people and children, through a group of awareness quotes and books, as well as a group of games with the aim of financial awareness as well.
It is worth noting that Global Money Week is a global event held in March of each year by the International Secretariat for Child and Youth Finance, and aims to raise financial awareness and spread financial culture among youth and children.
