Indonesian The Quality Assurance and Development Department at the University of Science and Technology at the main center - Aden organized an event to celebrate World Quality Day, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in the Grand Hall of the university building in the interim capital, Aden.
The event was inaugurated by the University President, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, who pointed out the importance of celebrating World Quality Day to shed light on the reality of quality in Yemeni universities and the challenges they face, as well as the steps and procedures for establishing quality systems in them. He stressed that this celebration comes as a result of the university’s keenness to spread and consolidate the culture of quality in the university to advance the educational process at the level of the republic, and in a way that enhances the university’s efforts to achieve its strategic vision of global leadership.
This was followed by a speech by the Secretary-General of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, Prof. Dr. Al-Ezzi Al-Buraie, who pointed out that the world celebrates this occasion from the 8th to the 12th of November every year to consolidate the concept of quality and its importance in academic circles and educational institutions to obtain qualitative outputs that meet the needs and requirements of the labor market.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Excellency Dr. Khaled Basalim, indicated in his speech that this celebration reflects the extent of interest of institutions in the private and public sectors in the importance of quality and in focusing on the culture of quality and its sustainability.
Noting that quality is linked to its standards, according to which it leads to better outcomes.
In an intervention via Zoom, the Vice-Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, Professor Daoud Abdul-Malik Al-Hadabi, spoke about the university’s experience since its establishment, and how a quality unit was established in 1999 to ensure continuous improvement of all components of the educational system.
Professor Al-Hadabi said that since the nineties of the last century, higher education institutions have begun to pay increasing attention to the quality of education as a basic requirement to raise the efficiency of their educational outcomes, and that the university has designed its own quality model based on international quality systems.
For his part, the Director of the Quality Assurance and Development Department at the University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shamiri, confirmed that the solid foundation and primary approach of the University is quality and mastery in work, so the University has preserved its legacy in this aspect, and has maintained its survival and continuity to this day with this approach, which is work that requires a lot of daily effort from all those affiliated with the University, and this is tangible to everyone.
Dr. Al-Shamiri reviewed the university’s academic performance evaluation for the year 2022/2023, and announced the merit of the Department of Pharmacy and its entitlement to the highest academic classification.
The event was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Basalim, Acting President of the University of Science and Technology, Prof. Abdulghani Hamid, Secretary General of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, Dr. Al-Azzi Al-Burai, Director General of Civil Institutions at the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Shafel, Assistant President of the University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, deans of colleges, heads of departments, and a large number of university students.
