The Department of Pharmacy at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center Aden organized on Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Scientific Day event for the public discussion of graduation projects for the academic year 2023-2024.
During the opening of the event, Prof. Abdulghani Hamid, Acting President of the University, stressed the need to focus on scientific research, activate it, and publish it in colleges, departments, and programs at the level of graduate students and lecturers; as this has a significant impact on achieving the university’s goals and interests in the field of scientific research. He also praised the work of the Department of Pharmacy in the areas of development and quality of academic performance, congratulating the students on this level of excellence, and wishing them all the best.
In turn, Dr. Fatima Qahtan, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, emphasized the role of scientific research in development in all fields, reviewing the experiences of many countries in this direction, and emphasizing the interest of the college and university in giving priority to research submitted and published by students; as they are the desired future.
In turn, Dr. Abdullah Al-Nasi, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, praised the efforts made by everyone, students, supervisors, and partner bodies, as well as the efforts of the academic and administrative staff in the department; which resulted in this level of research achievement, and many achievements for the department during the past period, including the Department of Pharmacy obtaining membership in the World Pharmaceutical Federation, as well as renewing the accreditation of the university’s pharmacy programs with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, in addition to developing and updating the department’s programs.
In a speech by the partners of success, Dr. Mohammed Al-Nasi congratulated the university and its students on this scientific research achievement, praising the university’s role in serving the community, its keenness to overcome difficulties for students, and provide an appropriate educational environment; in a way that serves to create distinguished outcomes. He also praised the university’s constant endeavor to create multiple partnerships with organizations, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies.
The research was supervised by: Dr. Faris Muhammad Muthanna, Dr. Muhammad Suhail Aqaba, and Dr. Yasmine Muhammad Mahdi.
The research titles were as follows:
– Prevalence and Factors Associated with Drug Related Problems (DRPs) Among Hospitalized Pediatric in Yemen. (Role of Healthcare Professionals).
– Phytochemical Screening and Antioxidant and Antibacterial Evaluation of Salvadore Persica Tar Extract Derived Nanoparticle as Promising Natural Mouthwash Formulation.
– Prevalence and Characteristics of Drug Related Problems Among Hospitalized Patients with Cardiovascular Disease in Aden, Yemen.
– Phytochemical Screening and Preliminary Pharmacology Evaluation of Caralluma Tuberculate as Nanoparticles.
The event included honoring the partners of success, as well as honoring the students participating in the events and activities of the Department of Pharmacy.
The event was attended by the Assistant President for Student Affairs, Dr. Munir Al-Abbadi, Director of Quality and Development Department, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shamiri, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Aden University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Saeed, as well as many representatives of institutions, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies, deans of faculties and heads of scientific departments at the university, academic and administrative staff, parents of students, student researchers, and a number of interested students and researchers.
