On the occasion of the university's continued leadership in global rankings, and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wusabi, His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Naif Al-Bakri, His Excellency the Minister of Public Works and Roads, Eng. Salem Mohammed Al-Harezi, and His Excellency the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Hussein Basalama, the University of Science and Technology - Main Center Aden held a ceremony to launch the new academic year 2023-2024, and inaugurate the new laboratories in the College of Engineering and Computers.

The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, after which Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, the acting president of the university, delivered a speech in which he welcomed all attendees, explaining that the university’s continued leadership in global rankings of Yemeni universities is the result of the integrated efforts of various official and security agencies, civil society organizations, the local community, and the academic and administrative staff. He also referred to the preparations made by the university to welcome the new academic year, as dozens of people from inside and outside the country joined its academic staff, and it expanded its infrastructure work, in addition to a qualitative increase in laboratories and clinics. The university also opened many qualitative programs in undergraduate and postgraduate studies this year, stressing that what was done is part of the university’s strategic plans, noting that the coming years will witness important expansions, God willing.

In the Ministry’s speech, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, praised the steps taken by the university in its main center in Aden, stressing the importance of such large projects in sustainable development and their positive impact on society as a whole, noting that what the university was exposed to in its previous center could have ended the university’s journey, but the university’s reliance from the beginning on working according to long-term planning, and the exceptional efforts made by the university and other institutions and entities, culminated in the university continuing its progress, and leading the universities within a short period, with notable achievements that deserve the lead with merit.

Finally, the university, represented by the university president, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, the university assistant president for academic affairs, Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, and the university assistant president for student affairs, handed over the university shields to Their Excellencies the ministers who attended the inauguration ceremony.
The launch was also attended by Dr. Mazen Al-Jafri - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scholarships and Grants Affairs, Eng. Ali Ahmed Hassan - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Roads, Prof. Abdullah Al-Hajj - Chairman of the Executive Authority of Community Colleges, Prof. Ali Al-Awlaqi - Chairman of the Security Committee, and many presidents of public and private universities, directors of directorates, representatives of many official bodies, and others.
