The Student Affairs Department at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, in cooperation with the University's Health Unit, held an awareness event about breast cancer.
The event began with welcoming the guests, an introduction to the event, the awareness program and the segments, under the supervision of the health unit official, Dr. Aisha Mohammed Saif, and Dr. Nour Al-Nimr.
The event opened with verses from the Holy Quran, recited by student Ahmed Ali Al-Yafei. Then the awareness program began with an educational segment presented by student Maria Abdul Rahman, which dealt with “How, When and Why” October became dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
After that, there was an awareness segment about breast cancer in women and men, on the stage of the Grand Hall, under the supervision of student Arwa Muhammad Al-Wadad and student Ahmed Nasser Abd Rabbo.
After that, the breast cancer awareness program began for the women present, as well as for the men present, where the causes of the disease, its symptoms, treatment, and examination methods were explained. This activity was carried out by the students: Abdul Halim Eidrous Bakri, Wael Abdullah Hazem, Aya Abdul Hakim Baqatian, and Aisha Jamal Hassan. The awareness program concluded with a presentation on the challenges and future trends in terms of treatment and innovative plans to reduce breast cancer, where this presentation was given by the student Ammar Yasser Salem. After the awareness program, Dr. Amira Al-Hamidi gave a speech about breast cancer.
After that, the experiences of people who had breast cancer and overcame it, thanks to God, were presented. The beginning of the disease, how it occurs, and how the patient was able to overcome his medical crisis and manage its treatment were discussed. The segment was implemented by the student Hani Naif Al-Aisaei, who told the story of a former patient from his relatives, as well as the student Alaa Munir Muhammad, who told the story of a former patient from her relatives. After the segment ended, the student Arwa Muhammad recited some verses of poetry about breast cancer for women.
At the end of the event, a competition was held about the awareness outcomes gained by the attendees from this event. The competition was supervised by: student Afnan Abdul Rab Abdul Qawi, and student Sultan Ahmed Al-Qatibi. The ceremony was concluded with student Ahmed Ali Al-Yafei.
The event included the distribution of awareness brochures about breast cancer, and the provision of examination tools for the disease for immediate free examination by attendees.
