The University of Science and Technology, represented by the Acting President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdulghani Hamid Ahmed, the Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, and the Director of the Quality Assurance and Development Department, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shamiri, participated in the workshop “Developing the Internal Quality System in Higher Education Institutions”, which was held by the Academic Accreditation Council and Quality Assurance of Higher Education, under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al-Wusabi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9-10, 2024, under the slogan “Quality System in Higher Education Institutions: Reality and Ambition”, with the attendance of 55 participants from public and private universities, led by a number of university presidents. 

The workshop discussed a number of topics on its first day, the most important of which were: reviewing the objectives of the productive workshop and its work mechanism, and the results of the internal quality system questionnaire and its structure. The workshop also discussed the experiences of four Yemeni universities in the field of internal quality systems, including the experience of the University of Science and Technology, where Dr. Mohammed Al-Shamiri, Director of the Quality Assurance and Development Department at the university, presented the university's experience in this field. In addition, the workshop participants discussed the guidelines of quality weeks in higher education institutions. The workshop concluded with a discussion of the basic components of the internal quality system in higher education institutions.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education honored the Acting President of the University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Abdulghani Hamid Ahmed, with the Council’s shield, in appreciation of the support provided by the university to the Council’s activities.
