Workshop on Approval of the Mission, Objectives, Learning Outcomes and Curriculum for the PhD Program in Information Technology

The College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a workshop (Approval of the Message, Objectives, Learning Outcomes and Curriculum for the Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology Program).

The workshop began with a speech by the University's Quality Management Department, which highlighted the university's commitment to working in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, by providing an appropriate educational environment for scientific programs in terms of academic cadres and infrastructure. After that, Professor Dr. Khaled Basalim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, delivered the Ministry's speech, in which he noted the need to adhere to the standards and requirements for opening programs, and praised the role played by the University of Science and Technology in terms of its constant and continuous efforts to adhere to those standards. Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi also delivered the university's speech, and in his speech he pointed out the university's commitment to the path it has pledged throughout its journey, to create a distinguished educational environment, in line with local, regional and international accreditation standards and regulations.

After that, the message, objectives, learning outcomes, and study plan were presented by the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Nasr Al-Saqqaf, who reviewed, through the presentation he gave, the university’s efforts to provide a distinguished educational environment that contributes to graduating a distinguished generation.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Adnan Al-Saqqaf, Director General of Governmental Educational Institutions at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Ms. Munira Younis, Director General of Private and Civil Educational Institutions. The attendees also included the preparation committee headed by Prof. Muhammad Fadl Al-Badawi, Prof. Adel Salam, Associate Professor Dr. Lotfi Khanbari, and Associate Professor Dr. Nabil Mansour. The participants included a number of representatives of the labor market, including Eng. Zain Al-Sunaidi from Infosoft, Eng. Rahab Al-Yousfi from Yemen Soft, in addition to representatives from Al-Arabiya Soft. A number of Master’s students in Information Technology also attended as representatives of this specialization. 

The workshop was enriched by a discussion about the details of the specialization among specialists, about the name and orientations of the program, as well as the number of program hours. The attendees reached the conclusion that the program is consistent with the objectives for which it was set, and accordingly, it will be submitted to the Ministry to complete the accreditation procedures.
