Honoring ceremony for Yemeni universities that won the first three places in the Arab classification of Arab universities for the year 2023 AD

The University of Science and Technology, Main Center - Aden, hosted the honoring ceremony held by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training this morning, Tuesday, to honor the Yemeni universities that won the first three places in the Arab classification of Arab universities for the year 2023 AD, which came as follows: Taiz University - University of Science and Technology, Main Center - Aden - Hadhramout University.
The ceremony began with a fragrant recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by the Academic Accreditation Council, delivered by the Council’s Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Susan Mohammed Bakhbira.
During her speech, Bakhbira conveyed the Council’s congratulations to the three universities for achieving the first places in the Arab University Rankings, calling for opening up horizons of joint work between the Council and all universities to advance higher education and improve quality.
Prof. Hoda Omar Basalim, Director of External Relations and International Cooperation at the Accreditation Council, presented a presentation on the results of the classifications and the axes on which the classification was based.
The number of Yemeni universities that applied and completed the application reached ten universities. Taiz University came in first place among Yemeni universities, and was ranked 39th in the Arab world, while the University of Science and Technology, Main Center - Aden, came in second place locally and 58th in the Arab world, and Hadhramout University came in third place in Yemen and 64th in the Arab world.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid, Acting President of the University of Science and Technology, Main Center - Aden, delivered a speech on behalf of the honored universities, in which he expressed his thanks to the leadership of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for this honor towards the Yemeni universities that won the classification.
Dr. Hamid said that this honor is a brief biography of continuous, diligent, ambitious, determined, persistent and integrated work founded on planning accompanying comprehensive quality, urging more academic work and scientific research directed towards society, solving its problems and meeting its needs.
In his speech at the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al-Wosabi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the efforts made by the Ministry’s leadership to develop universities and bring them to the ranks of advanced international universities. His Excellency the Minister also congratulated the three universities on their excellence, promising to harness all capabilities to support the leadership of government and private universities in their developmental and qualitative orientations.
His Excellency the Minister pointed out that the Ministry has activated the national tool for evaluating Yemeni universities to contribute to enhancing quality and excellence in higher education institutions and programmes, and to contribute to continuous development and positive competitiveness that is reflected in the quality of performance and contributes to the development of knowledge.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, and the former Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Hussein Basalama, honored Taiz University, the University of Science and Technology, Main Center - Aden, and Hadhramout University, in the presence of a large number of Undersecretaries of the Ministry, the Presidency and members of the Academic Accreditation Council, and the presidents of public and private universities.
