University of Science and Technology participates in the Fourth International Conference on Chemical Security and Emerging Threats

On Monday, October 16, 2023, the Fourth International Conference on Chemical Security and Emerging Threats opened in Bangkok, Thailand, with the participation of 330 experts from 92 countries.

Organized by the Royal Thai Police and the G7 Global Partnership Against the Proliferation of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction, the four-day event brings together representatives of law enforcement agencies, governments, international and regional organizations, academics, the scientific community, and industry.

The university was represented in this conference by Dr. Mukhtar Al-Abyad, Assistant Professor of Inorganic (Analytical) Chemistry, International Expert in Chemical Safety and Security, and Member of the World Congress on Chemical Security, through a scientific paper entitled “Hazards of Chemicals in Academic and Industrial Institutions.”

He explained the role played by the University of Science and Technology over the past years in organizing many training courses for chemical safety and security employees, distance training courses on chemical inventory management, training courses in chemical security for governmental and industrial institutions, and physical security projects in laboratories in most governmental and private universities and governmental and industrial institutions.
