On the occasion of World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day, January 30, the Department of Health Sciences at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences organized an awareness event that focused on (Neglected Tropical Diseases in Yemen, and the importance and role of youth from health specialties in raising awareness of these diseases and means of preventing them).
The seminar was attended by expert Dr. Saleh Al-Dubhi - Advisor to the Minister of Public Health and Population, who provided detailed information on neglected tropical diseases and their spread in Yemen, and efforts to reduce them. The doctor also stressed the importance of preventing these diseases, emphasizing the role of health colleges, their students and youth in general in reducing their spread and combating them.
During the symposium, the doctor presented important information and statistics related to neglected tropical diseases and the efforts made internationally and locally to limit their spread.
The symposium is an opportunity to remind people of the pioneering role of youth and their great responsibility towards society in return for the great trust that all segments of this society place in them, especially since this mission constitutes the core axis of the university’s message, which revolves around “community service.”
The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology, Dr. Fatima Qahtan, and the Head of the Department, Dr. Nazih Al-Abd, in addition to a number of faculty and administrative staff members and a large number of university students.
