The Student Affairs Department at the University of Science and Technology, Main Center, Aden, with the participation of the Iqra Club and the Talented and Gifted Club, organized a special ceremony on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 AD, to conclude the general cultural competition and honor the winners of the competition for the academic year 2023-2024 AD.
The ceremony was opened with a speech by the Assistant President of the University for Student Affairs, Branches and Community Centers, Dr. Munir Al-Abadi, in which he welcomed all the attendees and participating students with words of encouragement and praise, and the role of these competitions in discovering, refining and developing students’ talents, and linking scientific and cultural aspects alike, and that the university adopts highlighting the excellence of its students in all fields.
A word from the Iqra Club was presented by the student / Atiq Salah, the club’s official, during which he presented a report on the club, its message, goals, and the mechanism for joining the club. Then the competition began with the judging committee consisting of:
Dr. Ramzi Al-Hamidi - Chairman, Dr. Jihad Al-Abbadi - Member, Mr. Ali Yahya - Advisor to the Minister of Culture - Member, Mr. Abdul-Wahhab Ali - Member.
The participating students from different specializations presented distinctive and wonderful contributions, and the competition was strong, igniting the enthusiasm of the audience and winning the admiration of those present.
The ceremony concluded with honoring the winners with valuable prizes and distributing certificates of appreciation from the committee.
The competition sections varied as follows: Poetry (first place) student/ Adel Mohammed Sheikh, Short Story (first place) student/ Karima Helmy, Art of Recitation (first place) student/ Nasr Akram, Theatrical Acting (first place) student/ Heba Wahib, Chanting (first place) student/ Ayman Abdullah, Arabic Calligraphy (first place) student/ Moaz Mahmoud.
The ceremony was attended by many guests and academic figures, including Ms. Randa Akbour, Director General of Community Initiatives at the Aden Governorate Diwan, and Director Mohammed Al-Yafei.
The university’s sponsorship of such activities stems from its keenness to highlight and expand cultural and creative activity at the university, as it includes a large number of talented and creative people in various fields, and its keenness to discover and highlight their talents.
