The University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, and the French Supernova Organization received a visiting delegation from the European Union.
The delegation included prominent figures in the European Union, including: Ms. Irene Zissimos, Director of Economic Cooperation Programs, and Mr. Joost Mohlmann
Head of the Cooperation Section at the European Union Delegation to Yemen, and Mr. Mohamed Baraka, OECD Representative.
The meeting was hosted by the Social Innovation Lab at the University of Science and Technology, which is one of the joint projects between the university and the Supernova Organization.
At the beginning of the visit, the Acting President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, welcomed the honorable guests of the university and wished them all success in their tasks and development projects, which serve the community in general and the youth in particular.
Prof. Abdulghani Hamid also praised the joint cooperation between the University of Science and Technology and the Supernova Organization, which resulted in training university students, as well as training school students and students of public universities through Hackathon 1 and 2 projects, praising the training outcomes through which students were able to transform their ideas into tangible products, calling for more joint cooperation that “in turn contributes to creating an environment of creativity and innovation for our students,” as he put it.
The meeting witnessed a fruitful exchange of ideas with the European Union delegation, which expressed great admiration for the qualitative projects of the Supernova Organization and its outcomes, which were implemented in the entrepreneurship track with the organization’s local partners in Aden and Taiz, including the University of Science and Technology.
The meeting was also attended by many beneficiaries of these projects, who shared their experiences in benefiting from them. The meeting concluded with a special gesture, where artist Nadia Al-Muflahi presented one of her paintings to the European Union delegation.
