Discussion of graduation projects for students of the Therapeutic Nutrition and Dietetics Program
As part of its scientific activities, the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, organized the event “Public Discussion of Graduation Projects for Students of the Therapeutic Nutrition and Diets Program.”
The event was opened by the University Assistant President for Student Affairs, Dr. Munir Al-Abbadi, who delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests and parents of the students. He also expressed his appreciation for the students’ efforts and their distinguished role in this scientific day, and stressed the university’s constant keenness to support scientific research and develop students’ capabilities in academic and professional fields.
During the event, a group of graduation projects were presented and discussed, covering various topics in the field of therapeutic nutrition and diets. The research addressed important societal topics, and their titles were as follows:
- Minimum dietary diversity among women of reproductive age (15-49 years), in Sheikh Othman District, Aden Governorate - Yemen.
- Food and nutritional security among displaced persons in Aden Governorate.
The reality of sports performance and diet on the body composition of athletes in Aden Governorate - Yemen 2024 AD.
- The effect of vitamin D-rich diets and nutritional supplements on patients with hypothyroidism and vitamin D deficiency in Aden Governorate.
Supervised scientific research:
Prof. Dr. Samia Qutbi, Associate Prof. Dr. Hashem Suleiman, Assistant Prof. Dr. Taha Abdo Ali.
The discussion committee praised the research, commended its quality, and commended the great effort made by the students in completing it, and their efforts during the event.
It is worth noting that the research evaluation was based on precise scientific criteria, and the evaluations included a number of aspects such as:
- Originality and importance of the research.
- Research methodology and data collection methods.
- Analysis of results and conclusions.
- Presentation of the research and responses to the discussion committee’s questions.
At the end of the event, students participating in the first free medical camp organized by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, which provided free medical services to the local community, were honored.
This event reflected the university’s commitment to developing scientific research and its keenness to encourage students to present distinguished research that contributes to solving pressing societal problems. Such activities also enhance communication between students, academics and the community, which contributes to achieving the goals of higher education and community development.
