The Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, organized a program to prepare new faculty members for the new academic year 2024-2025. The program continued over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, October 2-3, 2024.
The program was managed by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rumaima, Dean of the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance, and targets new faculty members who have recently been appointed to the university.
At the opening of the program, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, Acting President of the University, welcomed all attendees and stressed the importance of implementing this program to prepare new faculty members to integrate into the university environment and become familiar with its regulations and systems, considering them a qualitative addition to contribute with the university members in achieving the university’s vision.
The program included a number of topics on its first day, starting with an introductory presentation about the university, its vision and its journey since its establishment, presented by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hafezi.
This was followed by the axis of the source of giving in the university, which was presented by Dr. Fatima Qahtan, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, in which she spoke about the coexistence of the faculty member in the reality of the university environment, and about dealing with the student, and how the faculty member is the source of giving and the capital of the university, and that success is not achieved without his presence.
The Human Resources Department also presented an explanatory presentation on the services and benefits provided by the university to its members, and reviewed the employee portal to clarify the procedures and services that the portal includes for faculty members to deal with.
During the program’s axes, Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, Assistant President of the University for Academic Affairs, spoke about the duties of a faculty member and his role in the educational process in the academic, administrative and research aspects.
In the last axis, Dr. Fares Muthanna, Head of the Scientific Research Department, addressed the role of the faculty member in the research aspect, and the importance of activating scientific research among all faculty members, and spoke about the Scientific Research Department’s plan to increase research output at the university.
On the second day of the program, a training course was held entitled: “Description and Development of Academic Programs and Curricula,” presented by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rumaima, Dean of the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance.
The course aimed to provide participants with the basic knowledge necessary to design and describe academic programs and courses based on learning outcomes, by introducing them to modern global methodologies for designing academic programs and courses.
The program was attended by deans of colleges, heads of academic departments, and quality officials.
