On Wednesday morning, November 8, 2023, the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology at the main center - Aden, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology: Reality and Ambition” in celebration of World Radiology Day.
The symposium was opened by His Excellency the Acting President of the University of Science and Technology, Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid. At the beginning of his speech, he welcomed all attendees and stressed the importance of holding scientific symposia and discussions in various fields of science, pointing to the pivotal role of the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program in diagnosing diseases, developing health care, and raising the quality of services provided to patients. His Excellency also indicated that the university pays great attention to this specialization.
The symposium included several sessions and lectures presented by prominent experts in the field of radiology and medical imaging, discussing the challenges facing this field and future opportunities to improve the quality of healthcare and provide more accurate and effective diagnosis for patients.
During the symposium, Dr. Wafaa Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ayashi, a medical diagnostics specialist and head of the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program at the University of Science and Technology, gave a lecture in which she discussed the importance of radiology. The latest technological developments in this field were reviewed, including advanced radiological techniques and medical imaging, where the spotlight was on radiology and 3D imaging technology and its applications in various matters, such as diagnosing heart diseases, cancerous tumors, and brain imaging.
Then, Dr. Riyadh Al-Saqqaf gave a lecture on the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program at the University of Science and Technology, highlighting the program’s mission and objectives, job opportunities, and areas of postgraduate studies.
The event was distinguished by the wide participation of university students, faculty members and researchers in medical sciences, amidst great interaction from the attendees, as information and experiences were exchanged, which led to enriching discussions and increasing awareness of the latest developments in the field of radiology and medical imaging technology.
At the end of the symposium, the organizers expressed their aspiration for more scientific symposia and similar events in the future, with the aim of enhancing communication and consolidating cooperation in the field of radiology and medical imaging technology.
The symposium was attended by the university leadership, headed by the Acting President of the University, Prof. Abdulghani Hamid, the assistants to the President of the University, Dr. Munir Al-Abbadi and Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, Prof. Dr. Samia Qutbi, Professor of Therapeutic Nutrition and Dietetics, and a number of faculty members, interested parties, and university students.
