The Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center Aden concluded, on Monday 11/11/2024, the training workshop: “Preparing a Self-Evaluation Study for the Medicine and Surgery Program According to the Standards of the Academic Accreditation Council”, which lasted for four days, and targeted members of the self-study committees in the Medicine and Surgery Program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, within the framework of preparing for national academic program accreditation.
At the opening of the workshop on the first day, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, Acting President of the University, stressed that the pursuit of academic accreditation has become a necessity, and that the University Presidency has placed the academic accreditation project among its priorities, and will provide all forms of necessary support to the programs until they obtain programmatic accreditation.
During the workshop, the trainer Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rumaima reviewed the criteria and indicators of program accreditation, and the mechanism for evaluating them. The workshop participants discussed in detail the seven main criteria included in the Program Accreditation Standards Guide, the sub-criteria, and the indicators for each criterion, and the evaluation of the reality of the program according to the evidence and proof provided in the data collection phase. The strengths and aspects that need improvement were also discussed; to come up with a chronic improvement plan based on the self-evaluation study.
At the conclusion of the workshop, which was attended by Dr. Muammar Al-Qatibi, Assistant President for Academic Affairs, the impressions of the training team were heard, and the completion of the preparation work was discussed according to a timed plan; so that the accreditation application can be officially submitted on the planned date.
After that, certificates were distributed to the trainees.
