Conclusion of the first free medical camp of the University of Science and Technology
The first free medical camp of the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, concluded this evening, Thursday, February 29, 2024 AD. The camp was held by the university in cooperation with the Modern Pharmaceutical Company, over the course of two days, Wednesday and Thursday, February 28-29, 2024 AD. It was hosted by the university building in the Inmaa City in the center of the capital, Aden.
Over the course of two days, the camp received thousands of patients who underwent medical diagnosis and then free treatment under the supervision of a group of doctors in various free clinics: general medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, dentistry, mental health, therapeutic nutrition, and optics. Patients also benefited from free check-ups, free medications, and a discount on optics of 30%.
The camp activities were accompanied by health awareness programmes implemented by medical and health sciences students, which aimed to deliver sound health information to community members in a simplified manner.
Dr. Munir Al-Abadi, Assistant President for Student Affairs and Community Centers, stressed the importance of holding such free medical camps that serve the community, and that the university is keen to assume its responsibility towards the community, and will continue to hold free medical camps in the future. Dr. Fatima Qahtan, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, expressed her happiness at holding this camp, and that it represented a wonderful opportunity for medical students to benefit from the expertise of specialized doctors, and to spread health awareness among the community. For his part, Dr. Muhammad Baharmiz, Head of the Camp, praised the combined efforts to make the camp a success, explaining that the camp would not have succeeded without this organized teamwork, thanking the university presidency for its great support for holding it.
