University of Science and Technology - Aden organizes a scientific symposium on the role of universities in achieving quality, social responsibility, and strengthening partnerships with the labor market

Coinciding with the celebration of World Quality Week, the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center, Aden, organized a scientific symposium on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, entitled: “The Role of Universities in Achieving Quality and Social Responsibility and Strengthening Partnerships with the Labor Market.”

The symposium was attended by the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Susan Bakhbira, and a number of members of the Council. It was also attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Aqlan, Vice President of Aden University, and a number of academics from inside and outside the university. 

At the opening of the symposium, the Acting President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, welcomed the attendees and spoke in his speech about the university’s preparation of graduates who are able to work in any international market; to be truly graduates of the twenty-first century with all the knowledge and qualifications that this requires. 

After that, the scientific papers participating in the symposium began with a paper by Prof. Abdul Raqib Al-Samawi - Member of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education entitled: “Challenges of Applying Quality Standards and Academic Accreditation in Yemeni Universities and Ways to Overcome Them”, followed by a scientific paper presented by Prof. Dawood Al-Hadabi entitled: “Universities and Society: Responsibility and Effectiveness”, and Mr. Abdul Moneim Al-Sarouri - Head of the Export Department at the Yemeni Company for Mills and Grain Silos - Aden spoke in his paper on the partnership of universities with the labor market, which bore the title: “Universities and the Labor Market: Partnership towards Qualifying National Competencies that Meet Development Requirements”, to conclude the scientific papers with a paper by Dr. Mohammed Al-Shamiri entitled: “The Impact of Academic Accreditation on the Quality of the Educational Process”.

This symposium is held within the context of the University of Science and Technology’s interest in achieving quality at various levels, and its interest in applying the concept of social responsibility, and in partnership with the labor market.
