Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

 

About the Faculty:

·        It was the first private Medical Faculty established in Yemen in 1994, including Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry.
·        Strives to keep pace with the world medical developments.
·        A member of the International Network of Medical Faculties destined for the society.
·        A member of the Association of Islamic Medical Faculties ( Alvima).
·        Offers   sophisticated education and medical services through  the distinct capabilities and medical facilities, including the highly distinguished medical institution (University of Science and Technology Hospital).It includes labs, clinics, and the modern teaching aids.
·        Has mutual relations of cooperation with its counterparts of world medical faculties through bilateral agreements which formed the exchange of knowledge and the developmental approach in all teaching developments and learning techniques.

Mission:

The Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Science, and Technology strives to produce highly qualified medical doctors, capable to cope up with the continuous learning, committed to the ethics of the profession of medicine to contribute in upgrading the domestic and regional health area. This is achieved by adopting the system of medical education, which serves the community and based on the problem solving in a sophisticated learning research environment.

Objectives:

·        Provide the society with highly competent medical doctors capable to deal with various health issues.
·        Increase the level of health awareness to the community.
·        Provide appropriate environment to teaching staff and students for conducting various scientific researches that develop the health area.
·        Develop relationships and exchange experiences with the faculties of medicine at domestic and regional universities.
·        Meet the requirements of quality and academic accreditation.

-         Sab'een Hospital
Second: Training Centers of the University:
-         Mother Hospital ( 60 beds).
-         Al-Ahli Typical Hospital (80 beds).
-         Ibn Al-Haytham Clinic ( eye-ear-nose-throat)
-         Al-Maghribi center for eyes medication
-         Psychiatric Hospital (120 beds).
 
Third: Hospital of the University of Science and Technology:  the first hospital owned by the medical college in Yemen with a total capacity of (300 beds).

1- Medicine and Surgery Program
- General Entry Requirements: As mentioned in the academic bylaw:
Special Entry Requirements:-
-         High school education with the accumulation of not less than 75%.
-         The high school certificate should not be more than five years.
-         Original and true copy of high school documents
-         Copy of ID for Yemeni nationals, copy of passport for non-Yemeni nationals.
 
-        The degree awarded: Bachelor
-        Language teaching:
Arabic for co-curricula: English for specialized subjects
-        Duration of Study:
6 years + one year internship
-        Total Credit Hours: 342
 
 
2- Health Community Bachelor Degree (equivalence-bridging)
General Entry Requirements: As mentioned in the academic bylaw.
Special Entry Requirements:  
-         Diploma with the accumulation of Good
-         The high school certificate should not be more than five years.
-         Original and true copy of high school documents
-         Copy of ID for Yemeni nationals, copy of passport for non-Yemeni nationals.
 
-        The degree awarded: Bachelor (bridging)
 
-        Language teaching:
 
English for specialized subjects
-        Duration of Study:
2 years  after diploma
-        Total Credit Hours: 112
-        Partnership Programs: Higher Institute of Health Sciences
3- Bachelor Program of Labs. (Equivalence –Bridging).
General Entry Requirements: As mentioned in the academic bylaw.
Special Entry Requirements:  
-         Diploma with the accumulation of Good
-         The high school certificate should not be more than five years.

4- Bachelor Program of Radiology. (Equivalence –Bridging).

6- Lab Technician

-         The high school certificate should not be more than five years.

-         Copy of ID for Yemeni nationals, copy of passport for non-Yemeni nationals.
-        The degree awarded: Diploma  
-        Language teaching:
Arabic for co-curricula: English for specialized subjects
-        Duration of Study:
2years
-        Total Credit Hours:
-        First year: (29 practical hrs – 13 theoretical hrs).
-        Second year: ( 31 practical hrs – 13 theoretical hrs)>
